Reading the 10 Reasons to Love series
It means everything to me that primary schools use my books and that they spark science and creative writing projects. I am a proud Patron of Reading of my lovely local school, Longtown Community Primary which I visit regularly to read, launch competitions and run workshops. I thrive on the enthusiasm of buzzing classrooms and eager questions, so please get in touch for information about my workshops or to explore options and ideas.
School workshops
I offer virtual visits and in-school author days with interactive workshops. From timelines on evolution to ‘turtle egg’ ping pong balls and Big Bangs in classrooms, children get involved and explore the issues inspiring my books. With curriculum-led resources and Pearson’s Bug Club Shared Reading books I have authored, I support follow-up competitions, creative writing and activities.
Festivals and author events
I write to share my books and am happy to chat about festivals, literary events, partnerships and projects. I have presented at festivals including Oxford, Cheltenham, Bradford, Greenwich, Wychwood and Hay Festival; and run masterclasses in nonfiction writing for Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCWBI) and Moscow International Book Fair.
